Another drive up the Gorge. The colors and weather were different from last time, just a few weeks ago.
German Solar Power
Solar power generation world record set in Germany. “Germany has nearly as much installed solar power generation capacity as the rest of the world combined and gets about four percent of its overall annual electricity needs from the sun alone.”
Solar at Intel’s Jones Farm Campus
Intel is installing solar panels at many of its sites. I watched the progress at the Jones Farm campus where I work. Today is the first day all the parking beneath the panels is available — my car is somewhere under the structure on the right. And it’s a sunny day to boot!
In the Oregon summer heat, those of us who get to work early will get prime shaded parking places. In the rain, we’ll still have to dodge the drips — there are gaps between the panels that water drizzles through.
Somewhere there is (or will be) a web page charting how much electricity the panels generate. I’ll update this post when I find it.
Hmm. Is this just a high-tech carport? ;-)
