Gilligan and Hazel are happy that Melissa is visiting.

Melissa’s First Day of School 2014
First day of school!
That was the text I received from Melissa early this morning. And she attached the picture above.
Haha! I’m so happy to get it. :-)
We have a tradition in the Logan family: on the first day of school, we take a picture in front of the Japanese maple tree in our front yard. I’ve already posted the pictures for Jamison and Yuna this year, but Melissa’s was going to be a little more problematic with her starting grad school in southern California.
Melissa solved that problem for me by having her roommate take her picture1Did you notice it’s in front of a maple leaf wreath? Well done, Melissa. and then sending it to me.
Thanks, Melissa! This should be an exciting year for you. We’re so glad you’ve found your passion and are able to pursue it at a great school. Best wishes for the coming year.2And I’m looking forward to getting more pictures from you. ;-)

Holy Saturday at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden
This afternoon,1On the eve of Easter or Holy Saturday. Interestingly, this is not the same as Easter Saturday. we decided to visit the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. On the way, we hit some heavy rain, but the weather was nice when we arrived. We had most of the park to ourselves. When the rain finally arrived at the garden (with a little sleet and hail mixed in for variety) we decided it was time to leave.

A View of 15D/E
Traveling home in the evening with Missy for a long weekend, it was too dark for a picture out the window. So I turned the camera around. :-)
A View From 13F
Melissa and I headed south to Sacramento — she, back to school, and me, to work in Folsom for a couple of days.
It’s nice to have company when traveling. :-)

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, everyone! The kids slept under the tree in their new PJs. This morning, we opened stockings and then our presents, followed by a late brunch. Mmm! Once again, Santa confused us with a well-behaved family.
We are so thankful for the many blessings we have.
Melissa’s First Day of School 2012
Today is Melissa’s first day of her Junior year in college.
Unfortunately, I won’t see Melissa today, so instead, I’m posting a picture I took of Melissa yesterday at Lake Tahoe. Or, closer to the truth, I’m posting a picture I took yesterday that Melissa intentionally walked into.1Silly photobomber — and she definitely improved the picture. :-)
Have a great school year, Melissa! We’re so proud of you. :-)
