  • Cats and Kids

    We have two cats.

They have every reason to be the same. They are from the same litter, have the same parents. They were raised together, by their mother and family, and then by our family.

But they aren’t the same. Ginger is black and Hazel is gray.

More importantly, Ginger knows how to get my attention. She follows me through the house. She jumps up on the bed in the morning and kneads me. She paws me when I’m at the computer. When I pick her up and scratch behind her ears, she purrs immediately. Ginger loves my attention.

Hazel, well Hazel is a cat. She doesn’t ask for attention. She watches me from a “safe” distance. She doesn’t jump up on my bed. She doesn’t paw me. When I pick her up and scratch behind her ears, she is slow to purr. Yet, Hazel loves my attention.

    We have four kids.

    Cats in the Sink

Our cats, Hazel and Ginger, cuddle in the sink. They’re making the best of being locked in the bathroom while I clean the aquarium.

Yeah, I’m catblogging and it’s not even Friday. Such are the joys of being owned by a cat.

Meet Hazel and Ginger.1Yeah, we know that it’s strange to have a gray cat named Hazel and a black cat named Ginger. They have been part of our family for months.2I’m amazed I haven’t included them in a Friday post before today. They are best friends and fun to have around.
