Heather asked whether we wanted to go to Cannon Beach this afternoon. I think my standing answer to that question is, “Yes!” Off we went.
We took Mousse so she could have some fun off-leash time on the beach. Oh my! What fun. :-)

Mousse makes herself at home. She no longer merely lies on the bed — she owns it. And what a sweet puppy she is. :-)
This is day three of a week of (domesticated) “nature photography.”1Today we’re tracking the elusive family dog. What an amazing opportunity to observe this magnificent specimen performing a ritual nap in her natural habitat. Notice how her coloration matches the pillow behind her, allowing her to subtly blend in. Let’s pause to watch her eyebrows twitch from side to side as she ponders her next moves. If she plays her card right, she’ll be snuggled up to her master before nightfall.
I’m not sure, but I think we might have Mousse trained to stay off the front couch now… ;-)
Driving by the airport, I noticed daisies growing on the bank across the street. I parked at the nearest spot and walked back, taking pictures along the way. I met up with Ashley and Mousse. We walked through Orenco Station, then back to Dawson Creek where I took a picture of my favorite grove of trees.

We like to visit the rhododendron garden in the spring. Last year, we visited mid-April—and got rained on! This year, with unseasonably warm weather, trees have started blooming here in Hillsboro. As the garden doesn’t charge admission until the first of March, today seemed a good day to visit.
Although there were not many rhododendron blooms, the garden was still beautiful. I took a few pictures, but this was the only one worthy of sharing. Suzi took pictures, too, and ended up with many more to share. Jamison is showing her how to post them on Facebook and Instagram.
Mousse also enjoyed the visi–squirrel!!
I guess we’ll have to go twice this year. ;-)

Good job, Bamboo!
A skateboarding dog is awesome! I wonder if we can teach Mousse to longboard. I showed Mousse this video; she watched the entire thing with apparent interest.
Do you think she’ll stand on my longboard while I pull it with a rope?

I love when Mousse saunters over to flop down and rest her head across my feet. Chocolate labs are healing to the soul.

This afternoon, we trekked into the hills to get a Christmas tree. We went to the same farm we did in 2010, 2011, and 2012.1Last year, due to everything else that was going on, we got a tree from a lot.
Unlike years in the past, we had no rain, no snow, no fog, and no mud. We also had no problem finding a nice tree, cutting it down,2I love a sharp saw. carrying it to the car,3With help from one of the farmer’s daughters. lifting it up,4With Jamison’s help. He’s getting tall — and strong. tying it down,5Jamison’s help, again. bringing it home,6The wheels on the car go round and round? setting it up,7Yup, with Jamison’s help again. I don’t know what I’m going to do without that boy. :-) and decorating it.8Everyone helped! Even Mousse and Meisa wanted to get in on the fun. *<:-)
About all that’s left is to take a pretty picture of it. Maybe tomorrow night. It’s going to be up for a while. :-)

To celebrate Jamison’s birthday, we visited Cannon Beach this afternoon. It was a great excuse to visit Insomnia, play fetch with Mousse, and take a bunch of crazy pictures. You should see the ones that didn’t make the cut. :-D
