What Parler Saw During the Attack on the Capitol. ProPublica provides a collection of videos from the January 6, 2021, protests/insurrection.

As supporters of President Donald Trump took part in a violent riot at the Capitol, users of the social media service Parler posted videos of themselves and others joining the fray. ProPublica reviewed thousands of videos uploaded publicly to the service that were archived by a programmer before Parler was taken offline by its web host. Below is a collection of more than 500 videos that ProPublica determined were taken during the events of Jan. 6 and were relevant and newsworthy.

Yeah, I haven’t watched many of them myself, yet. The more I watch, the more I realize that (1) it was worse than I thought, and (2) it could have been a lot worse than it was.

    Nice classic find!

I have to ration myself to a few clips at a time or I can burn hours on this. Ja, my version of your worse/worse divide is that it is clearly more organized than I originally thought and also much more chaotic! Clear a wide range of backgrounds and agendas in the mix.

The most impressive thing is actually the commentary you can hear on the clips — its an amazing listening experience too. There’s a lot of anger and pride to go with all the flags and regalia and equipment and non-verbal statements.

And there are definitely some comic moments in the mix. My fave from memory is: a woman in a full-throated “this is our house” speech a woman shouts in the direction of the police and/or the politicians inside the building — “WE PAY YOUR TAXES!” I think I know what she meant but it struck me pretty funny. Maybe she would pay my taxes too..
