Bush 41 on Hugo Chavez

“Oh, go ahead.”

It doesn’t take much prodding for President George H.W. Bush to express his opinion of Hugo Chavez.

Somehow these tyrants have a way of falling

    Whatever do you mean?
He couldn’t be talking about sponsoring a coup could he?

Junior learned the lesson well- democracy isn’t the point, a regime friendly to American interests is. This is true for Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Kazakhstan today as it was for the ruthless U.S. installed and sponsored Latin American tyrants of yesterday.

Nice blog by the way. I’m also using K2 and wordpress. Can you email me your css code for putting the image on the right side of the banner?
    Added you to my blogroll.
    Cheers!

It’s probably more wishful thinking than any threat. After all, how many U.S. presidents has Fidel Castro outlasted?

Certainly, in the short term friendly regimes are in America’s interest. It’s unclear whether that’s in America’s interest in the long term.
